Glad to see you're still making these!

Concept: SCF get's into the christmas spirit

Aesthetic:I like that your trees and snowballs were really well drawn and colored/animated. The christmas remixes were a treat to listen to it's a shame that it wasn't in sync with the scenes it was meat to be played with.

Animation: The scene where black was walking through the snow dragged on too long especially when the music stopped before the scene was complete which made it somewhat boring for a minute or so. The action was really smooth and entertaining to watch as usual. your only issues are the frame rate speed of character close ups.

Humor: The action is just what I expected from a christmas special light hearted and funny.

Overall:As always this series has me on edge for what comes next as the passion and hard work are still evident. Merry belated Christmas and a Happy New Year!

guitan11 responds:

you know, its pretty well in sync on my computer, not perfect, but somewhat. i need to make sure that everything i do can play the same way it does on my machine. but i do agree on the waling being a bit long. since the frame rate falls for no reason :/
i always encounter new technical issues, but thats part of learning :3

thanks for the review dude

Story: Starting to get more interesting. The ending was alot for satisfying then part 1, which was part of the reason why I was reluctant to review it in the first place but I digress. Being broken into parts kinda kills the pacing and gives the illusion of the story feeling more stagnant but regardless I can still see a plot being developed. I've encountered some confusion towards Red's remark to Black Freezing after being decieved. It implied to me that you were hinting a human shield was his ability, of course one who watched the series from the beginning could point out that he's been a human shield countless times. But I guess that was all irrelevent once Red said they still haven't found his ability. Perhaps I'm over thinking it and it was just an attempt at humor.

Aesthetic: The art has improved with more detail and touch ups in the close ups to make the characters stand out and give more personality by stick figure standards. I have to say I' not happy with POV's latest look. What happened to his "herp derp" look that was in the previous episodes. His eyes are normal now and that takes away from one of his strongest comedic factors give him back the spaced eyed look so you don't miss out on the those easy but genuine laughs.

Also one of the main issue with these passed two parts is your sound. I don't know what happened cause the audio was decent- tolerable throughout the past 5 episodes. But here I can barely here certain lines mostly reds at max volume. Speaking of voice acting Red's could use some work his lines doesn't sound genuine to me at times. Props for keepin the sound effects in check though.

Animation: both parts of this episodes really had lag issues or are just too slow on some parts that it took away from the action. Most notably the lip syncing is off during close ups and the sound effects are off timed occasionally. If the Ram has anything to do with it then feel free to disregard whatever is neccessary in this section I'm not tech savvy enough to understand all the effects of RAM outside memory.

Action: For what they're was it wasn't anything here that stood out to entertain on it's own merit but they're was enough to compliment the comedic side. But I didn't enjoy it as much as say the battle between Ken in SMCF3 or Black vs P.O.V in SMCF 2. (apologies if those references are mixed up)

Comedy: A slight downgrade I gave a few chuckles but it can't compare to my experience with the previous episodes. As mentioned earlier P.O.V needs to get his golden" space-eyed, blank face" look back for more for the characters sake as well as comedic sake. In my opinion the farting thing only works when black is cowering for his life because its mostly out of desperation to stay alive.

Overall:
so far episode six has some issues, I feel it's missing some of the unexpected slapstick comedy of it's predecessors but it's tolerable and doesn't effect my view of this great series as a whole.

guitan11 responds:

wow, i always look forward to your reviews. mostly because they are really objective yet with comments that motivate to get better. i agree on most points you pointed out.

the audio has always been an issue with me, i have been figuring it out as i go. but its weird that people say that the lip-sync is off, on my computer it shows on point and the voice volume is at a decent gain. maybe its just my computer, i dont know.

splitting the animation in two i guess made the overall feel of the full animation more slower and less fluid in the action parts. and PV's face is the same XD you just saw it from a diferent angle, not just face to face :P

but every review is taken into account, so thank you very much

YES it's finally here, and the franchise continues to hit the spot!

Concept: The greatest action comedy stick animation series retains just that and more!

Story: An incompetent stickman continues to learn the Way of The Stick.

Aesthetic: The volume is somewhat imbalanced in the beginning it's seems as though the gun shots get louder and louder with each new release. (you tryin to blowout my eardums?) Other then that the volume and sound effects themselves are ok. The art is slightly better then previous episode. However I will say this episode lacks too much color for my taste with the exclusion of the Video game reference to Metal Gear Solid since it's appropriate.

Natalie Hoover's Voice acing is pretty good overall, I just didn't think her first line gave off the menacing feel you both may have been aiming for it sounded too mystical, goddess-like, if that makes any sense. But thats just a hiccup compared to the rest of her performance I could get use to the idea of her as the official voice actor for Rosa.

Animation: The animation is still as fluid and crisp as before.A very important element especially considering the action/comedy this series is known for. When things collide and blows are landed they look and sound believable.

Action: While not quite meeting my personal level of over the top since episode 3, for what it is it's pretty entertaining from a action and comical stand point, speaking of which...

Humor: As always this author excels in racking up the LOL's. However I'd recommend being careful with your usage of memes you had a good balance in the past but here was almost overwhelming. The idea of P.O.V speaking in memes is tolerable so as long as they're ones that most can easily recognize. Some of the memes you used I had to guess what they meant such as when he walked off after the main character face planted into Rosa's pelvis. But the ones that do work, work really well especially the "watch out we gotta baddass over here." That was a great meme response, well timed and funny. I also got a laugh out of the main characters attempt to escape from training sessions only to get blasted or threatened with a beat down.

On a side note:

I appreciated the Terkoiz1's "yo-yo" cameo I called it when the discussion of "odd weapons" were being discussed. Also nice self insertion "GTN11".

Overall: This episode took a risk and reaped many benefits. The voice acting is pretty good for what little there is and while the comedy wasn't as funny as the previous installment it's still pretty good and creative in its own right and should provoke several laughs throughout. And the memes that worked REALLY worked just don't over saturate and you'll be fine. Nicely done my friend!

P.S: Please get that scene selection button worked out in future projects it makes reviewing ALOT easier, more accurate, and less time consuming.

guitan11 responds:

AND THERE IT IS!! been waiting on this one for a wile :P

first of, YO-YO if from "Hyun" gotta give credit where credit is due. :3

PV's way of speaking wont be just memes, i used them because most people from the internet would get an idea of whats going on. i plan on using other images ;)

as far as voice acting im really pleased with what came out of it. it was fun to play around with it and insert audible jokes like "I GOT A SHIELD", it was a good outcome for a first time, and it will only get better. (mad props to Natalie for that awesome scream :D)

i will say one final thing to you and everyone who reads this. the next one will fill your thirst for action ;)

FffffffffACEBOOK!!!

Concept: make a flash to test the mic. (Quality kinda sucks)

Aesthetic: not that impressive just a bunch of black and white with little standing out. Of course what hurts this flash the most is the poor sound quality. Volume levels are unstable and chracters are only clear when they started throwing stuff at each other.

Animation: Not much but it was smooth no glitches present.

Comedy: Punchline made this flash. I also find it slightly humorous how the characters glow when they get hit.

Overall: An okay flash but sound quality needs work. Hope youcan get the bugs worked out in time for your later installments.

guitan11 responds:

thanks for the review. honestly this was a quick thing that i made in like an hour. i now fixed my recording process and now everything sounds smother :3 or at least i think it does :P

like always, awesome reviews. just you wait when im done with "Stickman Can't Fight 5" you will write the longest review of your life >:D

DBZ and Sonic aren't similar enough to copy-paste

Concept:

A tribution toTOONAMI, Sonic, and DBZ by copying the epic TOONAMI promo style featuring DBZ but replacing the DBZ characters with sonic characters.

Aesthetic:

Even though it was based off DBZ I think you should've kept the characters at their original size and not base each characters size in relation to their DBZ counterparts. Otherwise the drawing was well done and the sonic characters replicate their original design. Wouldn't exactly be Dbz, or Sonic for that matter, without good use of vibrant colors, tints and shades, so good job there.

Animation:

Didn't really like the execution, and was disappointed with the lack of originality. Judging by the title I was expecting A more original sonic promo with toonami's flare. Dbz sonic crossovers are always typical, with a few exceptions. and no offense but this one isn't really anything special.

The voice overs felt way off (especially Metal Sonic having Frieza's voice.) I think some other voice actors from this website would've been more appropriate. Or maybe some existing dialogue from the video games would've been easier and still more appropriate. You still would have successfully replicated the promo since the DBZ action will still be there while having the voice more loyal to the Sonic franchise. Making the cross over more sensible and more than just a DBZ promo with disproportionate Sonic characters thrown in for the sake of it.

The animation was successful in recapturing the anime bits in the original DBZ season 4 promo, so good job there.

Overall:

A successful promo that will satisfy your nostalgia if the awkward execution doesn't distract you. From where I sit it does a good enough job honoring a classic anime, a great video game franchise (fan-base aside), and a long missed action-cartoon block That made the golden era of Cartoon Network.

3/5

Chartreuse-Emu responds:

I'm not sure I understand what you meant about the voices... The whole point of this video was to over emphasize the parallels between Sonic and DBZ, which is why I didn't alter the audio track.

As for proportionality issues: Ray, Tails, and Charmy are Krillin, Gohan, and Chiaotzu. Ray has never been seen in the "modern" art style in the games, so it makes sense for him to remain small just like Krillin did. Tails has always been shorter than the others. And on the splash screen, Knuckles isn't taller than any of them, he's just standing behind them (look at the feet).

And seriously, Sonic and DBZ are so similar, it's disgusting. The creators of Sonic have gone on record stating that DB was an inspiration.
Super Sonic = Super Saiyan; Trunks is a Saiyan from the future = Silver is a hedgehog from the future;
Vegeta comes from space, fights with Goku, but eventually becomes his ally = Shadow comes from space, fights Sonic, but eventually becomes his ally.
Piccolo is the last of his kind, starts as a bad guy, quickly becomes good, and is known as the Guardian of the Master Emerald = Knuckles is the last of his kind, starts as a bad guy, quickly becomes good, and is known as the Guardian of Earth.

The list goes on and on. So don't even pretend that they're not similar.

That's some serious writers block

Concept: third installment of Sonic Vs meta knight.

Aesthetic: The characters are sprites but some of them seem like they do poses they don't do in their respective games, so if there's some of your work in the stances of these characters forgive me I can't identify them as I'm somewhat ignorant toward rating sprites. Special effects were good i like the wall damage from the hill where kirby was kicked into and the special effect of shadows power being copied into kirby.

Animation:

It was adequate, it's a little slow at times like when shadow was charging his chaos spear after kicking Kirby into the wall. Another slow moment was when sonic and meta knight were clashing all over the place. Also that style of fighting is somewhat lazy considering it was the the majority of the fight. Nothing wrong with copying DBZ's style but when the focus is one aspect of the fighting style. the action comes off as uninspired.

Actual fast paced animation of the characters fighting with their fist and feet would've been way better, and would make more sense considering both characters are stupid-fast. It may have been out of your technical capabilities but improving them further would make a greater impact on this flashes reception.

Also what was up with the random nyan cat reference it wasn't funny or relevant to the mood of the flash's story which seems to be in a serious tone. There's virtually 1,001 ways you could've ended this better. Nothing wrong with humor in an action flash but throwing in a meme and assuming everyone can level and understand why it's humorous is just a poor and obviously forced attempt at comedy, pretty noticeable where the writers block started coming in.

Overall: Continue practicing and know what kind of genre of flash you want to make. If you lack motivation take a break and come back to it when you feel that spark again. As you see projects turn out a lot worse when you try and force yourself to make art then waiting a few months for that spark of inspiration to resurface.

2/5

GuitarKirby responds:

Thanks very much. I'm glad to see you took a constructive approach to this rather than just screaming how terrible it was without actual help. All of this is true, of course, and the Nyan reference was something I did for fun. It wasn't a forced attempt at comedy, but I can see where it would come off that way.

Stickman Can still entertain

Concept: This series still retains it's original storyline about a stick man who *GASP* can't fight???

Aesthetic: Notable improvements in many aspects. I still like the increased level of detail in characters during the close up shots for those comedic and dynamic moments. It's a good, fun style to use and not many stick animators do it. The use of shading is used well overall, the shading only looked off on the red stick figure in the beginning, specifically near his neck and left shoulder. The backgrounds are also more detailed with convincing drawn terrain with only the lack of perspective in the opening scene throwing me off.Personally I felt those mountains should've been taller.

Your music is fitting for every scene and does a great job implying the humorous tone of this series. I still love the jingle after the protagonist finds out about his "hidden ability".

Story: Although this is only part 1 of a story arc.It was interesting to follow our protagonist quest to find his hidden (if any) potential in the face combat.

Animation:

Is still fluid, and crisp. It really seems like the author takes pride and joy in his work. The highlight of this flash, in terms of animation was when Firegirl destroyed a waterfall, her movements were dynamic, and intense with of the help of color skill and special effects to get that extra "umph" prior to launching her attack. It makes me ecstatic to imagine what future fights will be like.

Humor:

Although there's a lack of action in comparison to the previous 2 episodes,(As stated by the author) the humor more than makes up for it. From the unexpected return of the P.V. introduced with his dumbfounded expression. to "courage the cowardly dog" reference, to the "noob stick" getting "serious" in one of his third training session resulting in snapping his arms in two. (followed by my sound of satisfied laughter.)

Improvements:

- better use of perspective

-keep your skills in check by practicing when you can, looking good my man.

Overall: Well done you continue to show promise and if this flash doesn't speak for it's self your daily 5th sure as hell does! Readers, If your tired of the same old " one stick vs a million" animations (For the record those never get old.) "Stickman Can't Fight" will give you a satisfied breather. (If you don't keel over from laughing)

guitan11 responds:

aaaaaaaaaaaa yes, the satisfaction of a fancy looking review :P
thanks a million for the review, i really like your reviews personally for the amount of thought gone into this. im satisfied to know that my references were understood by other people, sometimes i think it might just be me who understands the joke :P

as far as improvements go, others have also states better use of persective and angles. so.... i'll try....... but the setting for the next one might make that tough. ANYWHO, thanks man :D glad you enjoyed it.

A good comedy to begin/end the holidays.

Concept: The author expressing his christmas spirit through one of the best original comedies on NG.

Story: Last years(Why last year, just cause?) recording of Seymour's Christmas with his wacko mother.

Aesthetic: The author retains his drawing style with what looks like a darker and thicker outlining of characters. Colors are bright and vibrant with good uses of tints and shades on each object.

Animation: Although I favor Chronomonator and his sarcastic personality. Seymour was a joy to watch in this flash being just as lively and expressive as he was in his debut Villainy ep 1 flash as well as the P.I flash. The animation was smooth and crystal clear with no glitchy movement.

Humor: Spot on as usual James and Skuffster. The Mother, although off screen until the end (BTW,gross.) really stole the spotlight from the main character. Her sex jokes were humorous, but combined with great facial animation responses from Seymour, made the humor even stronger. As the audience probably would react in a very similar manner discovering how their mother plans to spend there christmas while scarring themselves in the process. My humor got the most satisfaction when the mom stated Seymour will understand when he's older. To which Seymour replied with a face that says " I'm fucking 40. "

OVERALL: This series has been on a roll since it's Villainy trailers. With great body animation not seen in many authors work and offers some of the best sense of humor sense the golden days of another original comedy "MASTERMIND".

DonkeysBazooka responds:

now THAT'S what I call a review! Thanks, man. glad ya like what you're seeing.

yeah, the art style's evolving with each new cartoon we make. I'm impressed/pleased you noticed. I think it's a lot cleaner now than it was even in Episode 1. You're just the type of guy that makes me wanna keep this train rolling. Ep2 is on the way.

Thanks for the review.

Still can't shake that mediocre feel.

DISCLAIMER:
I don't wanna come off as an asshole, I recognize that you are trying and that your not quite into animation. I do recognize that it's not as easy as many of the veterans on NG and animation studios make it look. I love stick fights and I love leaving honest reviews. It may seem like I'm just being snobby but for each review I leave, I recognize as MY OPINION and hope it could be of use in someway to you, the author. Sorry if my review may spark offense but just remember that is NEVER my intent to any authors who don't deserve it.

Now on to the review...

Concept: the concept of this series is still using dance moves as combat, but it more so comes odd as a fight choreographed with funk music. It's been done before, just with different a different genre of music.

Aesthetics: to be honest it's not that interesting just shades of blue. Maybe this has to do with the authors comments or just to put more focus on the fight itself, in which case is okay.

Animation: The action has improved slightly, as well as the special effects (the random rainbow move was nice). Dance moves are actually being used as a tool for combat, but its somewhat inconsistent going back in forth from dancing experts to supernatural beings. Also whats the point of that random burgundy colored third guy there's seems to be nothing special about him unless he's just added comedy. Sorry but him being launched in the air and out of the fight for 5-10 seconds isn't being executed well enough to be humorous. It was kinda cool to see him get kicked toward his partner(?) as he landed but I think some funny dialogue before hand (If you launch me one more-POW!, or don't- you- dare...POW, etc.) might have made this scene less repetitive.

Overall:

Pros
+ better choreographed action
+improved special effects
+ faster frame rate
+ slightly funnier than the previous 2

Cons:
- problems from the previous sequels continue to show
- Has an undecided style of combat that doesn't represent it's title.
- slightly repetitive

It is best one so far, and I don't wanna turn an already discouraged animator away. flash does take much time to master even for stick animators. hell I can't even use Photoshop or 3d modeling software sufficiently within 2 months of class, so I know how you feel.

3/5 (honestly I can't decide whether i like it or not. But I felt like a 3 is what you need you have potential it just needs honing.)

hikuihito responds:

I read all of your reviews, they're really fair man. Really appreciate the time you spent full breaking down this stuff. I'll take what you've said to heart, but a few things you said were bad were actual conscious decisions. For instance the combat styles shifting and lacking consistency, would make the animation more unpredictable. I sort of drew a lot of inspiration from dance battles, where something unexpected would really wow a crowd. So in a much smaller sense, I planned or at least hoped throwing something unexpected like a few latin steps in and a pirouette would cause a chuckle.

Stepping your game up every episode

Story: A noob stick continues learning how to fight through his own trial and errors. The story is starting to get more in depth as we come across new worlds and meet a new character. The series seems like its starting its own comedic adventure as the author is getting away from having the series based on one stick getting his ass kicked for shits and giggles. However that formula hasn't begun to stale yet, but I'm interested to see where the next episode takes me.

Humor: As hilarious if not more than the last installment. There was some ironic humor thats chuckle worthy but the bread and butter is how this series got its name. Slapstick is as humorous as it is clever. Very original comedy, I can hardly see why fans of stick fights or stick figures in general can't find any appeal n this flash.

Improvements:(take it with a grain of salt)

While your special effects aren't a problem it would be cool to see more realistic environment of the world your bringing your character into.

Add some highlight, shading details to characters.

Overall:

I have virtually little to no complaints about Stickman Can't Fight 3. It's a successful original comedy that apparently seems to get underrated reception from where I sit.

The Action is loud, the comedy surpasses expectations, and I hope the best for the author to keep this series around for months, and if were lucky years to come.

4/5

guitan11 responds:

aww dude! i freaking love your reviews! this is the kind of reviews i want, something that tells me were i could improve. thanks a ton for the critique, i favor constructive critiques over just "good job"
hope i get another one when the next episode comes out :D
